1937 Dick Tracy Serial - Chapter 1
It’s time for our first Saturday Matinee. (Well, you can watch this movie any time, but we’re posting this on Saturday, and it’s the kind of flick that would have been featured at a Saturday matinee, “back in the day.”)
The 1937 Dick Tracy Republic Movie Serial was produced by Nat Levine, and directed by Alan James and Ray Taylor. The serial was based on the comic strip by Chester Gould. The serial starred Ralph Byrd as Dick Tracy, and Kay Hughes as Gwen Andrews.
The serial also starred Smiley Burnette, Lee Van Atta, John Picorri, Carleton Young, Fred Hamilton, and Francis X. Bushman.
Our first Saturday matinee features Chapter One, “The Spider Strikes.”
