Bette Davis and Leslie Howard - Of Human Bondage
This week’s Movie of the Week is a classic movie based on a great book - Of Human Bondage, adapted from the 1915 novel by W. Somerset Maugham.
Bette Davis and Leslie Howard star in this 1934 RKO film, which was directed by John Cromwell. Leslie Howard has the role of Phillip Carey, a club-footed artist who returns to England after living in Paris. Upon his return he forms a passion for a lower-class tearoom waitress, Mildred Rogers (Bette Davis).
Other members of the cast include Frances Dee, Reginald Denny, and Kay Johnson.
